Currently under construction, Mobile Studio has been commissioned by a private client to design a rear extension and internal refurbishment of a terrace house, located in the heart of the Lansbury Estate in east London.
Lansbury Estate is a conservation area and forms part of the innovative housing schemes launched during the 1951 Festival of Britain. Mobile Studio’s design is sympethatic to the local surroundings and plays with the 1950s architectural style in a contemporary form.
The curve roof reduces visual bulk impact in the conservation area. The external surface is green roof for visual and environmental benefits. Internal joinery and kitchen units uses mirrors and reflections to create a visually larger space. The house will also benefit from a new dining/work area that opens out into the rear garden to create an inside-outside space.
